Realme Watch Screen & Design
Just like Fitbit Versa 2 and Apple Watch, Realme has a square face and curved edges. Since it comes with a glossy finish, it looks good on your wrist.
The device is IP 68 Water Resistant which means, by international standard, it can withstand dust, dirt, and sand, and is resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes.
Realme has a good build with gorilla glass 3 (for screen protection) and a 1.4-inch touchscreen color display which lets you see the screen under bright light (like outdoors, under the sun)
You may not like the bezel eating up a lot of space under the bottom side of the screen- particularly when every other company is trying to reduce the bezel space, Realme didn’t do a great job in reducing the bezel space.
Realme has heart rate and Blood oxygen level monitoring (SpO2). Both these sensors are located around the back of the watch. These sensors are arranged in a way that gives them proper contact with the skin for accurate measurements.
Realme watch specifications
You have 12 different watch faces (unlike the unlimited option in Mi Band 4) and only 6 of them are available at once in the watch.
Given the price of the watch, the overall look and feel are good with some compromises in the screen features.
Smartwatch Realme features:
As mentioned in the product features, this watch is only for Android users. To understand the full capabilities of the watch, you need to download the Realme Link app and link your watch to the app.
On the watch face, if you swipe up the home screen, you will see options for Heart rate monitoring, SpO2, Exercise, Activity Records, Sleep, Music, Camera (to control your smartphone camera), Find My Phone, Alarm, Stopwatch, Weather, etc.
Realme Fashion Smart Watch Music control
As with the other smartwatches, you can control music applications, podcasts, etc. without touching your smartphone. I frequently use this feature while working on household chores to change the song, reduce the volume, and move to a different application.
Camera Control
You can use the Realme watch as a shutter button for your smartphone. This is handy if you don’t want to use the timer on your smartphone camera
Notifications
What’s a smartwatch for if it doesn’t show your smartphone notifications. I find this feature incredibly useful in all smartwatches and you wouldn’t believe how much time you will save by not unlocking your smartphone every time you receive a notification.
Fitness tracking & Sports
Realme tried to stay ahead of the competition by focusing more on Fitness tracking options for the price. Like in the popular Mi Band 4, you have heart rate monitoring, different work-out modes, steps & distance tracking, sleep tracking, and many more. The best part is that you have 14 different workout modes. Many Fitness trackers at this price range come with about 10 workout modes.
Realme doesn’t have an in-built GPS. The issue with not having in-built GPS is that you need to rely on your smartphone’s GPS to get better accuracy in the distance metrics. This is not something unusual as many other trackers in this price range also do not have in-built GPS.
Heart rate monitoring
The Realme smartwatch comes with a PPG optical heart rate sensor and works well. Like in other trackers, you can set the measurement to automatic or manual. If you set it to automatic intervals, it will consume more battery power.
Sleep monitoring
The Realme app shows sleep tracking data. We have tracking available for deep, light, and REM sleep modes. Metrics are displayed in the app and you can track these metrics with time. Sleep metrics came out to be similar to other watches in the same price segment and we didn’t see any noticeable drawbacks with this feature.
Battery life
Realme smartwatch comes with a 165mAh battery which, under normal use, comes for about a week or 10 days (10 without continuous heart rate monitoring). You also have a power-saving mode that can double the life span with one charge. However, this would be a redundant feature if you don’t mind charging it once a week.
Operating system
The Realme smartwatch runs on a custom operating system that is not in any of the mainstream smartwatch operating systems such as Apple Watch OS, Wear OS (For Android wear), Fitbit OS, etc. Because of this, some functionalities are still in nascent stages. You can’t reply to notifications on Realme watch (you can read them) and the ability to sync up with other apps is constrained. We hope future versions and software updates will allow more flexibility in Realme smartwatch features.
Final Verdict:
The Realme watch is certainly a promising smartwatch for the price and features given the fact that it is first in the line of smartwatch products from Realme. We do see room for improvements such as flexibility with notifications, increased battery life, and improved tracking accuracy. There are good fitness trackers such as Mi Band 4 ( lesser price than the Realme Fashion watch ) and better smartwatches if you are willing to increase your budget. Realme watch is more a fitness tracker that looks like a smartwatch than a fully developed smartwatch itself.
