Rating: 4.25/5
Mi Band 4 is Xiaomi’s 4th in the line of products under the very successful Mi Band series of fitness trackers. Let’s check out what’s so spicy about it!
India’s No.1 fitness Band Mi Band 4
Mi Band fitness trackers have a proven track record of consistent performance and sports many premium features such as 24/7 heart rate monitoring and big OLED panel. Its waterproof design helped the tracker to come up with advanced swim tracking technologies such as stroke recognition. Guess what, with the latest update on Mi Band 4, you can unlock your Windows 10 laptop when you place the band nearby.
Mi Band 4 Price
At the price that it is coming for, the Mi Band 4 is cheaper than any of the Fitbit’s products such as Fitbit’s Flex Small, Fitbit Charge HR, Samsung Galaxy Fit e, and many other competitors in this space. Mi Band 4 has improved design, first in the Mi Band series to feature color AMOLED full-touch display and many other exciting features that we are going to discuss below.
Mi band 4: Key Features
- Color AMOLED full-touch display
- Up to 20 days of battery life
- 24/7 heart monitoring
- Music and volume controls
- Swim tracking with stroke recognition
- AMOLED Display
- Water-Resistant
Mi band 4: Screen & Design
Mi Band 4 is not extravagantly showy and looks like a simple and generic fitness tracker that delivers its promise. However, this surely has improved display compared to any of its predecessors.
Mi Band 4 is the first in the series to have a 0.95-inch Full-Color AMOLED Display. It has 24-bit color depth and 2.5D tempered glass with Anti Fingerprint Coating- you wouldn’t want your fingerprints to show up whenever you use the device. The tracker comes with adjustable brightness up to 400 nits which gives better visibility under direct sunlight.
The good news is you can have a good number of watch faces from different categories and also set up custom watch faces through the Mi Fit app (under ‘my band displays’ tab). You will never get bored of your watch with this feature. I personally loved FILIPEMCALMEIDA watch face.
Mi band 4: Fitness tracking & Sports
To track steps and know how many calories you have burned, Mi Band 4 is equipped with 3-axis gyroscope motion sensors and a 3-axis accelerometer.
This tracker doesn’t come with an in-built GPS tracker which means the metrics such as pace and distance ran won’t be completely accurate. You probably need to bring your smartphone to use the connected GPS feature if you want better accuracy. Higher priced competitor products such as Fitbit Inspire does have in-built GPS.
Mi Band is great when it comes to the number of workup modes. I used Fitbit Versa 2 which is a premium version in Fitbit’s line of products but didn’t see these many options. For Mi Band 4, the workout modes include treadmill, outdoor running, cycling, walking, swimming, and regular exercise if you want to keep it simple.
As mentioned in the introduction, Mi Band 4 can measure swimming stroke count, pace, and other metrics relevant to swimming. Thanks to its waterproof resistance.
Sleep monitoring
In addition to the aforementioned features, you have sleep tracking in the Mi App. Just like other sleep activity tracker apps, Mi Band 4 displays your sleep metrics in the app such as average heart rate, quality of the sleep, time in deep sleep, sleep data over a period of time, etc. Know in detail the Xiomi Mi Band 4 Review.
Xiomi Mi band 4: Heart rate monitoring:
Mi Band 4 offers continuous heart rate monitoring. You can also customize the detection frequency. There has been an increase in the perception that resting heart rate is a good indicator of your cardiac health. Mi Band 4 provides everything from resting heart rate to sleep time health metrics and work out heart performance.
Well, I wouldn’t say heart rate accuracy is as good as Apple Watch which is the best in the game. It was reported that heart rate metrics such as the number of beats per minute could be slightly on the higher side and sometimes Mi Band 4 doesn’t react to heart rate fluctuations especially during intense workouts.
Mi band 4 Xiomi: App monitoring and Smartphone integration
For the price that it is coming for, Mi Band 4 has a lot of features that help you to monitor your smartphone straight out of your fitness tracker.
For starters, Mi Band 4 can be used to answer calls, check text messages, and track just about any other notification you receive on your smartphone. You can also set the different styles of vibration with each type of notification so that you know what sort of notification you received without even looking at the tracker.
As with many other trackers, you can have the Mi Band 4 wake up when you turn your wrist. You can also customize this option based on the time of the day. You don’t want the tracker to disturb you while you are asleep. You can explore night modes and other features such as Do Not Disturb. At first, these features may sound redundant but you will understand how important to have these options once you start using the device.
You can read the weather, control your music, podcasts, and other applications without ever touching your smartphone. These features would come very handy while you are doing your regular household chores.
One of the exciting features in Mi Band 4 is that you can sync all your Mi Fit data to Google Fit. That way if you are already using Google Fit to track your fitness activity, you don’t need to switch back and forth between applications since they are already in sync. Also, with the latest update, you can unlock your Windows 10 laptop when you place the band nearby. Isn’t it cool?
Mi band 4: Battery life
Mi Band 4 Review: Mi Band 4 battery life goes into the ‘Pros’ section. You don’t need to charge it quite often. With normal usage, the 135 mAh Lithium Polymer Battery will last for approximately 20 days! That’s weeks-long battery life. If you set continuous heart rate monitoring, that will reduce the battery life significantly. However, you would still get a week with continuous heart rate monitoring.
Mi band 4: Final verdict
As with the previous line of products, Mi Band 4 gets a big shout out for its attractive price. Though there are some rival products from Samsung and Honor Band, Mi Band 4’s colored touchscreen, smartwatch monitoring features, exercise/swimming features such as stroke recognition and different workout modes, and an attractively low price gives it a competitive edge.
Distance and pace metrics have some accuracy issues. As mentioned above the accuracy increases quite a lot with GPS connectivity. So you probably need to carry your smartphone along with the tracker for increased accuracy.
All in all, if you are looking for an affordable Fitness tracker with consistent performance and best in the market features for the price, Mi band 4 is one of the best in this business.
